Saudi Commission for Health Specialities - SCFHS Licensing Services for Physicians, Dentists, Nurses & Allied Health Professionals
A Saudi Commission For Health Specialties (SCFHS) license is mandatory to work in public & private healthcare sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the classification to practice as a healthcare professional is different based on their profession and license criteria this applies to all categories ranging from Specialists, Practitioners, Nurses, and Allied Healthcare staffs.
Professional Classification: Granting the appropriate Professional degree to the healthcare practitioner based on a sequential procedure that includes studying and authenticating qualifications and experiences, and Professional evaluation. It is the first step for the practitioner to be able to apply for the Professional Registration Service. It is possible to apply for the Service from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Professional Registration: saving detailed data of the healthcare practitioner in the Commission’s database, which comes after the Professional Classification Service, so that the healthcare practitioner can practice the profession regularly in the Kingdom. It requires a lawful residence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The validity of the Registration is two years. Recognition Decision: It is the acceptance of a qualifying program of no less than one academic year, obtained by the practitioner and based on its approval by bodies acceptable to the Commission. Qualification Study: to study the healthcare qualification by the competent councils and committees in the event that the qualification is not among the approved qualifications and is not included in the list of qualifications on Mumaris Plus.
Professional Classification: the first legal step before registering as a healthcare practitioner in SCFHS. Re-Classification: To modify Classification data for promotion, such as the professional degree or changing the specialty.
When applying for the first time from inside or outside the Kingdom, you must select the Professional Classification Service through Mumaris Plus system. In the event that the qualification is not included in the list of recognized qualifications, you should apply for the Qualification Study Service, and then the Professional Classification is obtained. After that, you should submit an application for the Professional Registration Service before starting your work in the Kingdom. As for the Certificate Recognition Service, obtaining a Professional Classification is necessary to apply for the Certificate Recognition Service (for qualifying programs of no less than one academic year).
Professional Classification and Requirements:
- A copy of the qualification to be classified.
- The certificate of Internship.
- The academic record.
- A copy of the clinical training completion certificate for qualifications that contain training.
- Equivalence of academic certificates from the Ministry of Education for certificates issued from outside the Kingdom.
- A copy of the license/Professional Registration from the medical boards accredited in the applicant’s country, or a certificate of experience if the license/ Professional Registration is not available in the country.
- A copy of the qualification certificates, experience certificates, Registration and Professional licensing certificates from the country of origin, issued by the authenticating Company (for non-Saudis).
- A copy of the national ID for Saudis or the passport for non-Saudis.
- A medical report for those who are older than 65 years from an entity other than his employer
In the event that there is no official body for Professional Registration, there must be attached an official letter issued by the Ministry of Health in the applicant’s country, by which he practiced work before coming to the Kingdom. In this case, it is sufficient to authenticate the experience letter from the accredited authentication company.
Yes; The healthcare practitioner can apply for the Professional Classification and Professional Re-Classification Services from outside the Kingdom through Mumaris Plus system. It does not require obtaining a valid work permit inside the Kingdom during the first stage of application.
Yes, voluntarily experience is accepted if it is in the same specialty and authenticated by a reference body acceptable to the SCFHS and in a way that makes it equal to the actual Professional practice.
It takes at most 14 workdays for results to be approved, the results will appear on Mumaris+.
The professional practice oral examination consists of 1 to 4 stations, each station has an examiner that will assess your clinical/practical performance using cases ,the test time is from 20 to 90 minutes at most. The whole encounter will require you to dedicate the day for the examination as it involves other candidates.
Three months before the end of Registration.
When applying for the re-registration service, the practitioner must complete the required hours as follows:
(20 hours for technicians – 40 hours for specialists – 40 hours for pharmacists – 60 hours for doctors)
In the event that the required professional development hours are not completed, the renewal is for a period of one year, which is available once on the date of the practitioner’s registration.
If the experience is from inside the Kingdom, you can apply for the (Professional Registration) service
In the event that the experience is from outside the Kingdom, you need to apply for the (professional re-classification) service, and after issuing a new classification, you can apply for the (professional registration) service
The fine will be issued after the end of the registration period by 31 days.
