Request to Issue a Social Care Professional Licence
Any social care professional residing in UAE or outside can apply for a social care licence to practice his/her profession in Abu Dhabi.
What documentation is required for the Social Care Licensing in Abu Dhabi?
- Copy of the first two pages of the applicants valid Passport
- Digital Copy of a passport sized coloured portrait photo
- Curriculum Vitae
- Attested copy of each relevant Educational Degree
- Legal translation of the degree certificates if issued in any language other than Arabic or English
- For degrees issued outside of the UAE, these are required to be equalized by the Ministry of Education, UAE
- Copy of Official Transcript (for each relevant university degree attained)
- Legal translation of the Official Transcript if issued in any language other than Arabic or English
- Letter(s) of Experience clarifying: job title, responsibilities and period of employment signed by employing facility’s authorized signatory covering the past two years of experience
- Employer Good Standing Certificate as per DCD Form
- Local or International Police Clearance Certificate.
- Local Police Clearance Certificate: if a resident of more than 6 months. The certificate must have been issued in the last 6 months
- International Police Clearance Certificate or equivalent from the competent authority in the country of residence and nationality, in the case the applicant is not a local resident or has been a resident for less than 6 months. The certificate must have been issued in the last 6 months
- Copies of local or international Professional Licenses (if applicable)
Service Steps:
- Submit the application along with the required documents through the available channels
- Receive DCD update to submit additional document if needed
- Receive Preliminary approval on the request electronically, in addition to notification to fulfill required procedures for license issuance such as providing primary source verification report or passing professional competency assessment
- In the event of completing all the required procedures as per the notification, the application of social care professional license request will be completed & the license will be received automatically through the available channels
Timeframe to receive the service:
- 90 days (including required approvals + passing DCD exam + providing DataFlow Verification Report)
Request to Amend a Social Care Professional Licence
Service terms and conditions:
- The social care professional must be licensed by DCD & has a valid license
Required Documents:
- If the amendment request was on personal information, applicant should submit related support document such as valid passport/EID
- If the amendment request was on the professional license title, applicant should submit related support educational qualification + experience letter + DCD form for good standing
- If the amendment request was on the facility name, applicant should submit related support experience letter + DCD form for good standing
- If the amendment request is to update the personal photo, applicant should submit a passport sized colored portrait photo

- Submit the application along with the required documents through the available channels
- If the amendment request was on personal information, applicant should submit related support document such as valid passport
- If the amendment request was on the professional license title, applicant should submit related support educational qualification + experience letter
- If the amendment request was on the facility name, applicant should submit related support experience letter + DCD form
- Receive DCD update to submit additional document if needed

Request to Cancel a Social Care Professional Licence
Request to Renew a Social Care Professional Licence
Request to Cancel a Social Care Professional Licence
Required Documents:
- Provide any supporting document to the request of cancel social care professional license (e.g: Resignation Letter)
Service Steps:
- Submit the application along with the required documents through the available channels
- Receive conditional approval on the request, in addition to a notification of the possibility of receiving update from DCD to submit additional document if needed
- In the event of completing all the required procedures of reviewing the request internally by DCD, the social care professional license will be officially cancelled & a notification of completing the request will be received automatically through the available channels
Timeframe to receive the service: 90 Days
Request to Renew a Social Care Professional Licence
Required Documents:
- Provide a record of the continuing professional development activities attached to the file of the CPD guides signed by the licensed professional and the supervisor of the applicant (With a minimum of 40 hours)
- A letter signed off by the authorized signatory of the Social Care Facility, validating the Social Care Professional’s active status of employment
Service Steps:
- Submit the application along with the required documents through the available channels
- Receive conditional approval on the request, in addition to a notification of the possibility of receiving update from DCD to submit additional document if needed
- In the event of completing all the required procedures of reviewing the request internally by DCD, the renewed license will be received automatically through the available channels
Timeframe to receive the service: 90 Days
